Reading King Arthur: A Biography has been a journey blending myth and history that left me deeply fascinated. At first, I saw Arthur merely as a legendary king of Camelot, surrounded by noble knights, the Round Table, and the mysterious Holy Grail. But this book goes beyond the fairy - tale version, tracing the possible historical roots of Arthur amid the chaos of post - Roman Britain. What struck me most is the contrast between the idealized leader and the flawed man. The author portrays Arthur not as a perfect hero, but as a ruler struggling to unify warring tribes, burdened by responsibility and betrayed by those he trusted, like Lancelot and Mordred. This humanization makes the story far more compelling. It also made me think about how myths are shaped: they are not just stories, but mirrors reflecting people’s hopes for justice, loyalty and a better world.
