a virtuous mistake

The ending of this story is unexpected. Before the revelation of the man's identity, Miss Martha's speculates about the man were all wrong, which also leaded to the surprising ending. Toward Miss Martha, I think she appreciated the man who she thought was a poor but talented artist, and maybe loved him. She craved to show her sympathetic heart to him and eagered to help him for his thinner figure. Finally, she seized the opportunity of inserting a generous quantity of butter into the stale bread for the man. But what a ridiculous mistake! Just because of the butter, the man's effort had been undone. That is a beautiful mistake. But they all have fault. Miss Martha appreciated Mr.Blumberger but she never had the courage to inquiry the man about his occupation, his interest, and what's the purpose of the stale bread he used for. Neither had she knew, and she only guessed and guessed depending on her own assumption. Thus, she did a wrong thing. But who can know that a man used the stale bread for rub out pencil lines on paper for a normal perso! From my perapective, the man, though he was indeed pitiful, was no need to vent his anger on Miss Martha. We can only say that it's a pity for Mr.Blunberger's prize competition.
