Having read this interesting story, I come to realize that we ought not to add our ideas into others. The author pays much attention to detail, and is often some of the most important details that can push the plot. When miss Martha noticed that Bloom Berg only bought the old bread, she wanted to do something for the "poor man" and give him something to give. This kind of helpful spirit, the quality that can be considered for others is worth appreciating. This is the common character of Ohenry's characters: some small characters, even in the hardest environment, still show sincere love and care to others. But in the aftermath, she added butter to the bread without the request of others, and though it was very good, she was good at doing bad things. This is to tell us that you have to understand, not by guess, otherwise it would be self defeating.
