This book is not long but it’s very interesting. It grabbed my mind from the first page and never let it go. Every character in this book is very interesting. Also, many stories inspire me a lot. Writers described many people’s life in it and allows us to feel it. Among these stories, my favorite one is The Last Leaf written by O’Henry. In a cold autumn, unfortunately a young painter suffered from pneumonia. The doctor said if she had no desire to fight disease, she may die. Everyday she counts the remaining leaves on the ivy tree through the window of the ward. She said:”when the last one falls i must go, too. I’ve known for three days. Didn’t the doctor tell you?” Her friend told she dolt idea to their fried an old painter who always got drank and had been always about to paint a masterpiece, but had never yet begun it. The old painter regarded himself as especial mastiff-in-waiting to protect the two young artists in the studio above. Finally the kind Pinter for her alive disposed his life, the old painter he paint a l green and yellow colors mixed leaf on the wall at the night that the last leaf fell. It is a storming night, the heavy rain made him contract with pneumonia, because he is old the pneumonia cant be cured. He dead to-day in the hospital. The hero’s selflessness and kindness make him great. After reading this story, i was deeply moved by the old painter. Spirit is strong and can beat disease.
