Buck's life

mysticwscgrt5g6hyh

Buck was an excellent hound, he grew up in a privileged environment, but was trafficked into the wilderness and become a sled dog, which worked for the human in the gold rush. There buck was trained in the harsh conditions and began to yearn for nature. He won the battle with Spitz and led the sled dogs. John stepped forward to save Buck from Hal's beating when he was dying. And for that Buck was very moved and decided to follow him forever, but in the end John was killed, Buck was completely disappointed with the human, he listened to the call of the wilderness finally, and left the human society forever.

Both the cruel environment and the indifferent human society were cruel to buck. Such a good and loyal dog should not be treated this way. But buck preferred the harsh wind and snow to the human’s unpredictable heart. The author, London, expresses the indifference of the capitalist society incisively and vividly. The "survival of the fittest" that applicable to nature also applies to human society in this novel. I believe that he held a ambition for freedom just like Buck did. What Buck is looking for is also what London is looking for. He want to told us that the nature shapes us more in our characteristics, not only the way we lived.

London also expressed an idea that, in the nature, you have to follow the rules of the strong, or you must beat them to the ground to win for your own power. And in the human society, that idea also survived, too. Buck forced himself to follow that, so he become the last winner in that severe environment.

For some characteristics, John was the one I respect. For he treated Buck as his own friends ,n not a tool to be used arbitrarily. It’s Buck’s love and faith to John that stopped Buck from being together with the wolves. And it’s John’s death caused Buck escape away from the human. Hal was a selfish man who only thought about himself. He only care about how much money he could get. He is the very image of some selfish and narrow-minded capitalist, who gave those dogs bad life experience.

Though now we live in a more comfortable environment and there is no need for abusing animals to earn more money, I still wish we could give more care to those animals around you. No matter the wanderings or the pets, there are the lives that we should respect to. Buck answer the calling of the wild in the end. But if he was treated well he could live happier and end his life with someone stay aside ,not in the cold wild. And sometimes, I think we should stop our step behind the money or other else. There are some thing around us more beautiful and valuable. The nature, the warmth, the small or tiny lives. We all need money, But we need the beauty of life ,too
