The Call of the Wild
崔宇浩
The story begins in the home of a judge in the southern United States.
Our hero is buck, a st. Bernard and collie mixed-blood, a well-bred
noble dog. But the story also has another background, the Alaskan gold
rush, a large number of people rushed to the land of ice and snow, they
need assistants-dogs, so a large number of dogs were sold to Alaska.
This included Buck, first it was sold by the gardener's assistant, then
taught with sticks by a man in a red sweater, he learned the law of
sticks and fangs, and he took the first step towards awakening his
wildness. As time goes by, Buck has learnt how to fight against attacks
by other dogs and struggle for justice, at the same time, he becomes
stronger and stronger. But he is hopeless in the face of the clubbing
and starvation by men. Buck was originally a civilized dog, but in order
to survive, he broke free from the shackles of civilization. He has a
strong ability to adapt. He can quickly realize that the change of
environment brings the change of people's spirit and respond to the
changes in time. The survival of the fittest, this is a timeless truth
in animals, and even the human world. It is true of Buck and he is in
continuous hone, growing up to be a peerless dog, even into a wolf, and
we should also constantly study in the hardships of life from a small
plant flower in the greenhouse into a tree which can withstand the test
of wind and rain, even can keep out wind and rain for others grow up to
be a real man. This is a meaningful novel, which integrates animal
stories, adventure stories, return to nature stories, human stories,
psychological stories, fable stories and so on. It is written on the
surface which is a smart and strong dog named Buck, in the cruel
environment of the Alaskan wilderness, in order to survive with the
group of dogs in a desperate battle, then he was gradually awakened to
the wild wolves, finally returned to the original forest, turned into a
Wolf. And deeply reflected the feudal society which oppressed people at
the bottom and people's desire for freedom. In the novel, I also saw the
sincere affection between animals and people. In Buck's life, his fourth
master established a deep affection with him, which had a great
influence on him. He saved the master's life, and made several great
tasks successfully for him. After the master was killed, he tried every
means to avenge the master, and on the day when the master was killed
every year, he would return to that place to commemorate his master. I
hope that everyone who has read this novel can learn something from it,
become stronger and braver, and have a sincere heart towards people and
animals.
