The Call of the Wild is a short adventure novel written by Jack London,
published in 1903,which is one of Jack London’s most popular novels. The
central character of the novel is a dog named Buck. The story happened at
a ranch in Santa Clara Valley, California.Unfortunately, Buck is stolen
from his home and sold into This classical work by Jack London is
notable for at least two reasons as follows.Firstly,it is the first
widely-read novel that views life through the eyes and mind of a
dog, which is very fresh for readers. Secondly, it is written by someone
who was keenly aware of the region and situation. Jack London was one of
the few novelists of his time to actually experience the adventures of
what he wrote. Whether in the frozen North or the South Seas, he lived
the life, drama and all. Though limited by the near-Victorian
restrictions of the time, he still was able to convey the human (and
animal) emotions with remarkable clarity. His nascent socialism is a
clear subtext in this and all his works; surely a hindrance in the first
part of the twentieth century.. He overcomes it brilliantly. In my
opinion,Buck is a symbol of human beings.Jack London used Buck as a
sounding board to voice his own feelings on man's place in the universe,
the meaning of honor, courage and loyalty. During the transformation
Buck would meet many men, some would be good, some would be bad, all
shaped by the brutal life they lived.Jack London may be guilty of
anthropomorphism as he endows Buck with feelings of pride, sorrow, love
and hate but the story has stood the test of time and will continue to
do so as long as there are readers who love nature and hear the siren
Call Of The Wild.In the novel,Buck is just a dog,but but Jack London
anthropomorphism to personify him and his surroundings, vividly
depicting the essence of the world and human in buck's eyes, reflecting
the grim reality of capitalist society and the objective reality of
"survival of the fittest". Buck longs for and runs to freedom,
which is the embodiment of the pursuit
