The moonand sixpence

The moon and sixpence is a very interesting novel. This is my first
contact with Maugham. But a touch can feel that he is indeed a very
storyteller. First of all, he is a narrator, which is special enough
to tell the story. In fact, the moon and Sixpence are Maugham's second
novel. Few people can see that there is another story behind the moon
and sixpence. In other words, Maugham wants to use it to express his own
views and opinions. For example, it says, "why do attractive women
always marry fools? Because men with brains don't marry women who are
likable. " This is how he wants to express his views on love with
the help of the characters in the text. People who know him well know
Maugham has a passion for three fourths of women and a quarter of men
For example, Charles's wife smiles. She smiles very sweetly, and her
face is slightly flushed. It is rare for people of her age to blush so
easily. Perhaps the most attractive thing about her is her innocence.
This is an affirmation of Charles' wife. However, in the back, this is
in sharp contrast to the female writer who ridiculed her husband for
running away. Charles's sudden departure, in fact, is very difficult to
understand in that society. But it also became one of the highlights of
the novel. It makes the novel great. Because in every era, the general
deviant will be handed down for hundreds of generations. Maugham seems
to have had this awareness 100 years ago. Of course, in my opinion, this
is closely related to his experience. Maugham's early experience let him
see through the social climate. Why did he choose Gauguin as his
prototype? I think, maybe he once imagined that if he became such a
famous person as Gauguin, would his ending be the same as him? Because
Maugham likes writing, and Gao prefers painting. There are similarities.
What's more, Maugham was still in his early days when he wrote this
novel. He was not sure whether he would achieve something like Gauguin's
if he persevered. So I created it. Of course, he may not have thought
that such a great success should have been achieved. A person who has
made achievements in the financial industry should abandon his wife and
son to paint. It sounds like a joke. But he was real. It's eye-catching
enough.Of course, Charles avoided painting. His firmness to the ideal
made everyone blush. He failed three times in a row, but he still didn't
give up. It's a little Forrest Gump's spirit. It makes people feel more
strange. We all know the ending. Charles created, the most outstanding
work. But he also died of illness. This praises the dream. And people's
resistance to reality. Uncompromising to hypocritical society.
Everyone has a dream, but few people can pursue it like Charles! I have
to say that the moon and Sixpence is a really good book! If you ask me
to score it, I give ten!
