Review

Phoebe.
This book not only gives me a deeper understanding of our Chinglish, but also teach me how to better translate sentences. It is suitable for English majors to read, especially translation majors. The author gives us a lot of examples, from which give our a lot of inspiration. The whole book is easy to understand, somtimes it will have a few new words, but it doesn't matter, it is still easy for us to read. The author advocates that we should use more verbs, less nouns, more concrete words, less abstract and vague words. This book has helped us a lot in translation and writing. The aauthor's purpose is rather to show translators - and, byextension, others who are writing directly in English-how to recognize elements of Chinglish in a firstdraft and how to revise it so as to eliminate thoseelements. In other words, this book is intended tohelp them turn their work into real English suchas might have been written by an educated nativespeaker of the language. The author think the book will prove equally useful to the Chinese who arecalled upon to write English and who wish to improvetheir mastery of it-people working in journalism, foreign affairs, business, tourism, advertising, andmany other fields.
