Reading Review
expediency
The book generally points out the cumbersome characteristics of Chinese
students' writing, so the author spends a lot of ink to guide you where
to simplify and where to replace. For example, we all know that unlike
Chinese, a sentence in English can only use one predicate verb. In order
to make a single sentence contain more information, it is a common
practice to nominalize verbs. At the same time, this will also appear
more formal, less colloquial. However, nominalized verbs do not conform
to the intuition of human speech thinking, and normal people do not use
them frequently when speaking and writing English. In fact, Chinese is
the same, people instinctively tend to use verbs. Therefore, in many
English textbooks, the author encourages you to use less nominalized
verbs and more direct verbs to facilitate readers' understanding. Some
students, whose basic English skills are not solid, abuse nominalization
in pursuit of authentic articles, which will only make your article
incomprehensible. On the other hand, if you only use the basic verb
form, it will make your article read in a lack of change, as if it was a
note written by a seven or eight-year-old. And this book solves this
problem very well, it tells the reader when, where, how to write.
However, how to say, our Chinese English learning problems, is two-way,
on the one hand, students themselves do not use well, on the other hand,
most teachers themselves also have problems, as a Chinese will
inevitably appear problems —— habits.
