Ole Underwood

The novel uses the main character’s name as its title, making the story full of mystery and attracting the reader’s reading interest. Ole Underwood is a strange man. He is dressed all in black. He walks pass a small town. The environment in the town is very strange and scarify. His heart is like a harmer which is crazy pounding and his heart is anthropomorphic that he would hear his heart saying something to him. The dialogue between him and his heart adds to the mystery of the story and shapes his character. The environment around the small town creates a mysterious and bleak atmosphere. The author let him meet many people in the town, but no one is concerned about him. From the conversation of the people next to him, we can work out who he is and what happened to him. He did not belong to the people around him ， his soul did not belong to the town. When he came across certain objects, certain sights, they reminded him of his life as a sailor, and of his longing for the sea. At last ， he found a small boat and made it his own. The thirst for the sea had even made him mad.
