How does Hemingway's personal experience play out in the Old Man and the
Sea? Hemingway, a former soldier, moved to Cuba after the First World
War and met gregorio Fuentes, an old fisherman. In 1936, Fuentes went
out to sea and caught a big fish. The fish was so big that it took a
long time to return. Unfortunately, a shark attacked him on the way
home. This gave Hemingway a deep touch, and as his best material at that
time. The "rebellious" and "unyielding" spirit of
the old fishermen deeply resonated with the author, which made him
unforgettable for many days and nights. So the Old Man and the Sea was
born.We all feel the same way a lot of times. Some people work hard all
their lives, but no harvest, just like the old fisherman Santiago went
to sea for 84 days, but no harvest; Sometimes we were faced with
insurmountable difficulties and obstacles, like the old fisherman who
sailed for two days and nights under the tow of a fifteen hundred pound
fish; The most cruel is that we may have seen the dawn, but it is still
dark, just like the old fisherman finally killed the big fish, but the
way back to the shark attack, although trying to kill but eventually
fell, back to the harbor, only the hard-won fish and their own
wreckage... However, the old fisherman never gave up, not despair.
"Despair is a sin," he said. One day he dreamed of a lion
again. He will sail again. He's gonna get the big fish. This is the
courage and strength that the author gives us through the Old man and
the Sea: man is not made for failure. A man can be destroyed but never defeated.
