Little Women

Little women is a novel written by American woman writer Louisa May Alcott. It was first published in 1868. At that time, just three years after the civil war, the story in the novel took place during the war, which provided a reasonable explanation for Mr. March's "Absence". (in the whole novel, the depiction of male images is relatively thin compared with the four sisters, Mrs. March and Aunt March.)

The most important thing in the novel is Joe, the second daughter based on Alcott himself. Compared with other girls in the family, Joe lacks some lady temperament, and his character is more like a boy. He is independent, quick tempered, likes writing (can make money to support his family), and has the courage to pursue freedom and independence. Joe dared to challenge authority, so that he often ran into a wall, and even lost the opportunity to travel to Europe because of his impulsive words and deeds (Amy went instead of her). It is precisely because the author describes Qiao's talent and various shortcomings in detail that this character becomes the most real and three-dimensional image in the whole book. Readers will be really happy for Qiao's achievements and anxious for Qiao's frustration and confusion.

In the more than 100 years since its birth, little women can be used as a model for countless women's Enlightenment reading, and has been put on the screen many times. The reason is that Alcott not only wrote women's emotional stories, but also paid comprehensive attention to women's growth and life. And put forward intimate and practical life guidelines to later generations of women. For example, in the Naples trilogy, a popular female novel all over the world last year, Elena and Lyra were inspired by little women when they were children and decided to make money by writing like Joe, so as to become economically independent free women.
