Pride and Prejudice
I've read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice more than once,and I've watched the film based on it twice.I think for readers,if they only read it once, it is only a tortuous love story at most. After reading it again,they can get out of the love story, observe the human shortcomings exposed by the protagonist,and start to observe the state of the whole society at that time,and try to explore the correct way of getting along with people.
It can be said that the whole book from beginning to end is inseparable from two words love.when young men and women meet it is inevitable that they will fall in love with each other.The author portrays many couples in the book,revealing the true meaning of love to us through the contrast between different people.Love lies in adherence and tolerance. As Bentley and Jane the identity gap let people have doubts about their love, Bentley himself has been confused,darcy and sister Caroline persuasion cruel left Jane.
However, Jane has always been deeply devoted to Bentley,standing at the origin of love,guarding a heart of love, when the misunderstanding is lifted Bentley returned to her side,she chose to tolerate and Bentley made up.This is true love,guarded tolerated,and finally blossomed.
Love lies in understanding and respect.Like the hero and heroine of this book,who met at a dance,they have a misunderstanding,one arrogant indifference,the other full of prejudice.From the initial quarrel to the mutual affection,they both walk on the road of understanding,one gradually changes himself,the other gradually eliminates the inner prejudice. It wasn't an easy road, but they eventually learned to respect each other. As for the role of Charlotte in the book,her feelings are mixed with too much hypocrisy and skill, no one can call it love. Only by letting go of the distractions and greed in the heart and restoring the pure face of love,can we enjoy sincere love and spend an unregretful life with the person who fits us.
This is not just a love story. In the process of love,there are often unspeakable difficulties For the hero,the difficulty is arrogance.Distinguished aristocratic family background,a huge amount of money,handsome appearance, all of which make an arrogant Mr. Darcy.When he met Elizabeth for the first time he told of his inner hardness and power.The ball was mostly attended by young women who wanted a husband. He did not negotiate with them,though there were few men present.And his first comment to Elizabeth was"shes ok, but not very beautiful",which made Elizabeth feel disgusted at once. Darcy's arrogance is even more thoroughly demonstrated when he first proposes to Elizabeth. Unlike ordinary people generally confession,he has no more to express the heart of Elizabeth's love no praise Elizabeth beauty or inner,catering to the don't understand,but is more disparity between talking about their status and manifestations are like to say: "this position you marry me is how lucky thing,promise me is the best choice." Having seen Mr Darcy,we should also look down and ask ourselves whether we are still using arrogance in the world. Have you drifted away from the crowd? Arrogance is the difficulty on one side, and the difficulty on the other is the heroine Beautiful and confident Elizabeth was born into a middle-class family,surrounded by young ladies eager to marry into the aristocracy. In her opinion, marriage is based on rational choice and true love. Money and power should be excluded from marriage and the most precious thing is human character. In that era when male power was still strong, her pursuit of equality and true love was very rare.
However,when Darcy came into her life she began to have a misunderstanding of herself and Darcy,which is the prejudice mentioned in the title of the book.Darcy's distaste for her family,and his frank disclosure of the class gap between them, creates a sense of inferiority in her. And it was this inferiority that made the Mr. Darcy out of her eyes a thoroughly arrogant man.Her independent character and unique views have prompted her to reject Darcy's love.Admire,so that this love waves ceaseless. As the characters in the book convey to us differences in social status and living environment often bring about changes and abnormalities in the heart when we are in a superior position this change is arrogance.We no longer treat people calmly,but unconsciously dislike and reject every detail that does not meet our inner standards.Prejudice arises accordingly. When we are in a position of inferiority the difference is self-abasement.We are no longer confident and complacent,but want to maintain our dignity,without recognizing the truth,without thinking about resistance,and prejudice arises.No matter where we go,prejudice is inevitable,but we are not helpless against it.Since the purpose is to avoid the prejudice brought by min and trouble,then we should calmly accept its existence, and change the direction it points to,not only to others,but to find out the weakness from their own,improve the in understanding. With this awareness, prejudices can be translated into correct opinions and no longer easily cut through the close ties between people.
Having said that, let us return to the main topic of the book. Pride and prejudice,pride in Darcy,prejudice in Elizabeth.The author cleverly uses two words vividly summarizes the two protagonists,but also to master the waves of love process for the world to bring enlightenment. Pride and prejudice are neither good nor bad. Being humble and fair to others is the best way to deal with life and talk about feelings.
First read "Pride and Prejudice",can avoid a love; Read pride and Prejudice again and again,but you can capture the microcosm of real society in the book.The author Jane once mentioned that she created a rare and excellent Mr.Darcy in real life. However,I think she not only created a character but lit up the most intense desire in human heart.A handsome, wealthy gentleman such as Darcy must be admired by many young girls.Girls fall in love with him,regardless of the in character, regardless of their character, just for his fat purse,his distinguished family,his handsome appearance,and their parents support him hoping that such a good man will walk through the door of their home and make it glorious.This shows the impetuousness and utilitarianism of the society at that time. Social status, money and power are firmly in control of everyone's thinking.True love is often defeated by reality,losing its due power and fading its due color. Look at today's society,again taste is not so,materialistic desire is rampant climb the right to attach expensive,everything is hard to avoid to be affected by money,have independent individual character person, how many can have again? True and faithful love can survive a few minutes? Even college students in their early 20s who fall in love have to consider factors such as family conditions and family background first, let alone men and women who have been in society for many years.Fortunately the author has created an Elizabeth who,though deeply immersed in the material society,is still sober,with her own knowledge and cultivation,knows how to reject at the right time, knows how to accept at the right time,and bravely pursues true love.This makes us believe that the society is not clear,there are always sober and unyielding people,we should not just let Elizabeth live in the heart, but let her live in our body, to lead us to correct the distorted view and values of marriage in this society.
Pride and Prejudice is a book THATI will never be able to part with It has been a constant reminder to me along the way When satisfied, do not feel arrogant?
