Don't Give Up Easily
英西崔静桐
A simple story, an ordinary old man, an ordinary big marlin, had a
seemingly ordinary and extraordinary experience on the vast sea.
This book tells the story of an old fisherman named Santiago in Cuba who
went out to sea alone to fish and caught a huge marlin after 84 days of
nothing. But after that, he encountered a shark, and the big marlin was
eaten up by the shark, and the old man finally dragged home only a bare
fish skeleton. After reading this book, I found that this story
not only symbolizes the relationship between man and nature, but also
celebrates the human spirit. In reality, Santiago failed, but in
spirit, he was the winner. Here, he represents not only a person, but a
strength and a spirit, which is an admirable spirit of perseverance and
never giving up. Just as Santiago said,“A man can be destroyed,
but not defeated. ”I also admire the will of the old fisherman in the
novel. His story teaches me that a person must be strong, and he can't
give up when he meets a little setback, so he can never do anything.
