《远大前程》读后感

Great works are always worth rereading and reciting, and feel better with the passage of time and the thickening of one's resume. "Great Expectations" is such a great work, as a magnificent piece of work, shining light on our ordinary life. Our future, will also become a great work because of the great?

PIP is an orphan, uneducated, brought up in a lonely village by his coarse sister and kind brother-in-law. He could not hope for anything big. He felt that success in life was to learn his brother-in-law's blacksmithing skills. But one day, he felt that his dream was small and humble. A chance, he met the beautiful rich girl Estella, she became his goal to surpass. If he could not surpass Estella, he would never have a hope of marrying her. Instead, she gave him humiliation, ridicule and lies. PIP's prospects were slim. Then an opportunity arose, for PIP was sponsored to go to London, and to enter the world of high society there. He had been educated in etiquette and society, and had acquired a group of friends, as they were called, who had squandered money and joined clubs which were considered out of reach; And, of course, he often visited Estella, whom he loved, and was jealous of the dirty squire with whom she kept company. He was far away from his brother-in-law and sister at home, he hated the rough country life, but he could not find what he had in London. He still failed to win Estella's heart.

PIP saw the squalor of London and heard tales of conspiracy unheard of. He also experienced the ups and downs of wealth to poverty; It was even harder to accept that his noble life had been brought to him by a fugitive. And the unreachable woman he loved so deeply turned out to be the daughter of a fugitive. He lost his fortune, and almost his life, and ended up in a distant country in the East.

What is the value and significance of great expectations, that once unattainable height, to PIP now? PIP's great future is not so much the pursuit of worldly prosperity as his ultimate dream is the Estella who has been haunting him since childhood. The goal of life can be so simple, but to achieve this simple goal, but almost exhausted PIP's strength and conscience to survive in the world.

The glory is gone, the lead is gone, and PIP and Estella are finally reunited, but back to where they started. "It is true that the beauty of her youth is gone; but her ineffable grace, her ineffable charm, remains the same." The reality and the great expectations are neither parallel, and may never intersect.
