The time of machine

余屿

The book is written by the English writer Herbert. George. Welles's novel. It's his first novel.

The novel mainly tells the story of the future from the point of view of the time traveler, the first time to see the Eloi and the Morlocks life, the second time to see the barren solar system, the third time to tell nothing specific, leaving the reader to the imagination.

The first time, we see the Eloi and the Morlocks hundreds of thousands of years later. The former was small and thin, incapable of working, and lived on the ground during the day; The latter are savage, physically strong, and live underground. The Morlocks go out at night and feed on the Eloi. The author concludes that the Eloi were the original ruling class, weakened and weakened by development, and the Morlocks were the original working class, oppressed and gradually adapted to life underground. The author mapped the problems of his time through the novel, and the design was very interesting, which made me feel very new.

The second crossing is a better interpretation of the first crossing, that is, the solar system and the earth have become barren, and the past scene has been scorched, which further promotes the interpretation of the social development prospect seen in the first crossing. If the first crossing was the degradation of humanity, the second crossing is the degradation of the environment. This part of the environment describes more, more scientific and technological elements.

The third time, I felt that the time traveler had learned about the evolution of society or his own mission through the first two experiences, so it left room for the imagination of the reader.

What fascinates me most about this book is not its "technology," but the love that runs through the first journey, though it eventually dies in the fire. The design of this love instilled a little anger into the author's disappointment and helplessness towards the society. Although it was simply destroyed, at least it existed and the author still had hope for the society.
