the time machine
In the novel, the protagonist travels to 802701 AD in a homemade time machine. At this time, human beings have long been alienated into two branches and entered a period of decline. Too pampered, the Eloi living in the earthly world became petite and weak, degraded in intelligence, fearful of the dark, and became puppets of nothingness. The Morlocks, who hide in the underworld, live a cave-dwelling life, working all day, extremely sensitive to light, and come out at night to feed, and the Eloys are their plate.
This shocking scene is obviously an allusion to the antagonism between the capitalists and the bottom mass class at that time, and also contains Wells' deep concern about the prosperity and decline of human destiny, which became a precursor to dystopian writing.
Science fiction has always been my favorite literary theme, with both the depth of science and the vastness of fantasy, both rational observation and emotional contemplation.
