都柏林人读后感

The contents of the different titles in Dubliners seem to be summed up
by the title of the positive second novel, An Encounter: Arabi, a night
trip to the grocery market; Two Rough Guys, a night tour through the
streets of Dublin; The Dead, before and after a party... The characters
in Dubliners are diverse, including a boy who plays truant, an old maid
who has died, a young girl with spring thoughts, a deceitful vagabonds,
etc., who walk through the city of Dublin, thankful for the trivial
things, and at the same time, feel lonely, restless or desperate. Set in
Dublin, the capital of Ireland, the story highlights a common theme, the
callous, lifeless state of mind that pervaded Irish society in the late
19th and early 20th centuries. The misfortune of life is that people can
only live according to rigid, fixed routines, lack the courage to break
free from the shackles of routine, do not have the determination to
fight for good ideals: from childhood, adolescence, adulthood and into
social activity, Dubliners are paralyzed psychologically and physically.
This "paralysis" also exists in our present life. The
paralysis of the body is not terrible, the most terrible is the
paralysis of the spirit, emotional paralysis. Pointing out this
paralysis is the first step in arousing the national spirit. As a
result, Joyce wrote in a letter to his publisher, "I am convinced
that after writing this chapter of moral history as I have written it, I
have taken the first step towards the spiritual liberation of our
country." For us, in the face of the "paralysis" that
appears in our body, the most important thing is to have the courage to
fight for the good ideals in our hearts.
