"This" teleology "is indeed a difficult one to accept. But if we interpret his words as meaning that education is aimless, that is clearly a misunderstanding. What Dewey really meant by "education without purpose" is that education is meant to be a healthy development of human nature and innate abilities, not to be imparted into "containers" of knowledge. Only people, parents, teachers have a purpose.
