Book review
刘秀林
The School and Society is a compilation of Dewey's speeches and papers,
discussing eight issues: on the relationship between school and social
progress; On the relationship between schools and children's lives and
development; On the issue of waste in school education; On the
psychology of new and old primary education; On Froebel's educational
principles; On the design and significance of children's homework; On
the developmental patterns of children's attention; On the Objectives of
History Teaching in Primary Education Providing students with answers
is much better. Therefore, Dewey believed that the true purpose of
student learning is not to acquire knowledge, but the method of
acquiring knowledge is the most important. During a certain period of
time, mastering a certain amount of knowledge is less important than
mastering learning methods, because thinking and knowledge are always
integrated
