The Upward Vitality
The story is set in the foggy city of London, and tells the tragic life and experience of the protagonist Oliver Twist. Oliver grew up in an orphanage, suffering from poverty, hunger, and abuse. This environment makes him crave warmth and love, but fate always seems to play tricks on him. When he escapes from the orphanage in search of a better life, he unfortunately falls into the trap of a gang of thieves.
As I read it, I was deeply moved by Oliver's story. In the face of adversity, he has always maintained kindness and tenacity. He longs for love and is willing to give it to help others. I deeply admire this quality of innocence. At the same time, I am angry and disgusted by those who are cruel and ruthless and take advantage of Oliver. They do not hesitate to harm innocent children for their own benefit, which is outrageous.
In addition to Oliver, other characters in the novel are also brought to life. Nancy is a kind-hearted pickpocketwoman who betrays her gang in order to save Oliver. Her sacrifice made me deeply regret it, but it also showed me the brilliance in humanity. Mr. Brownlow, on the other hand, was a gentleman of integrity, who took Oliver in and gave him love and help. His acts of kindness showed me the beauty of human nature.
"Oliver Twist" is not only a novel about the growth process of orphans, but also a work that reveals social problems. It revealed the gap between the rich and the poor, the class contradictions, and the shortcomings of the social system in British society at that time. Through Oliver's story, we see the suffering and oppression of those who live at the bottom of society. This makes me deeply sympathetic and indignant, and it also makes me cherish my current life even more.
In addition, the novel conveys an important message: we should maintain the qualities of kindness and resilience no matter what the circumstances. Only in this way can we overcome the difficulties and challenges in life and realize the value of our life.
