Chapter 11: Oliver's Progress at Mr. Brownlow's

Oliver thrives in the kind environment of Mr. Brownlow's home. He spends his days reading, learning, and enjoying the simple pleasures he's never known before. Mr. Brownlow grows fonder of Oliver, seeing his gentle nature and intelligence. He decides to send Oliver on an errand to return some books and pay a small debt, giving him money and a new set of clothes. Oliver is excited about this chance to prove himself trustworthy.

Chapter 12: Oliver's Capture by Nancy and Bill Sikes

On his way to run the errand, Oliver is unexpectedly snatched up by Nancy, a woman associated with Fagin's gang, and Bill Sikes, a brutish criminal. They drag him back to Fagin's lair, much against his will. Oliver is terrified, as he had just started to hope for a better life away from crime. Fagin is both angry at Oliver for seemingly running away and relieved to have him back under his control, ready to be further groomed into a life of thievery.

Chapter 13: Oliver's Reappearance at Fagin's

Back at the den, Oliver is locked up and threatened by Bill Sikes. Fagin tries to persuade Oliver that he has no other choice but to stay with them and keep stealing. Oliver remains steadfast in his refusal, despite the fear that grips him. Meanwhile, Nancy has moments of pity for Oliver, seeing the poor boy's distress, but she's too entrenched in the criminal world to act on her feelings immediately.

Chapter 14: The Meeting between Fagin and Mr. Brownlow

Fagin, worried about potential trouble from Mr. Brownlow, decides to send a spy to find out what the kind gentleman knows. He sends one of his boys to loiter near Mr. Brownlow's house. Mr. Brownlow, on the other hand, is distraught over Oliver's disappearance. He posts notices and offers a reward for any information about the boy. The chapter sets the stage for a tense confrontation between the criminal underworld represented by Fagin and the forces of decency personified by Mr. Brownlow, as both sides scramble to gain the upper hand regarding Oliver's fate.
