Chapter 8: Oliver is Sent on an Errand

Fagin decides it's time to test Oliver in the real world. He sends him out with the Dodger and Charley Bates to pickpocket in the busy streets of London. Oliver, bewildered and nervous, follows them. But when he sees the Dodger steal a gentleman's handkerchief, Oliver is so shocked that he runs away, not understanding why they are doing such a thing.
