Review to chapter 1

Jean Valjean is a poor people of France, but he is a young man, big, strong, and a good worker. But he has no work, and he must take responsibility for his sister with seven children. Therefor he left his house at night for stealing a load of bread. Unfortunately, other people caught him up and sent him to prison. Due to Jean Valjean often escaped prison, he had to stay prison for nineteen years. The life in prison is cruel and miserable, and it changed a man. When Jean Valjean was released from prison, he knocked bishop’s door. Bishop’s sister was afraid when she looked at Valjean’s look and drove him away. But bishop insisted that he stayed and had dinner together. During dinner, he noticed the silver plates and silver candlesticks and wanted to steal expensive items. The next morning, he left bishop’s home with the silver plates. But policemen quickly noticed this strange man and took him to bishop’s home. But bishop forgave his manner and sent him some silver candlesticks. Facing bishop’s kindness, he cried for the first time in nineteen years. Nobody knows, but when the sun came up on a new day, he was a changed man.
