A Profound Exploration
WERTHER
Despite his concerns about the state of the world, Wordsworth's poetry
is ultimately a celebration of the beauty and resilience of nature. He
believes that no matter how much we may damage the environment, nature
has the power to heal and regenerate itself. In his poem "Ode:
Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood,"
Wordsworth reflects on the cycle of life and death, and the way in which
nature constantly renews itself. He writes, "Through nothing can
bring back the hour / Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the
flower;/ We will grieve not, rather find/ Strength in what remains
behind."
