A tribute to unyielding sprit

After reading The Old Man and the Sea, I am deeply impressed by
Santiago, the old fisherman who never gives up. For eighty-four days, he
catches nothing. But he refuses to admit defeat and sails far into the
sea alone. Finally, he hooks a huge marlin. The fish pulls his boat for
three days and three nights. Santiago fights against it with all his
strength. His hands are cut and bleeding, but he never lets go.
Sadly, sharks attack on his way back. Santiago fights bravely with his
harpoon, knife and even his fists. Though the marlin is eaten up by
sharks in the end, leaving only a skeleton, he still wins in my heart.
He shows us that a man can be destroyed but not defeated. This sentence
becomes the most powerful part of the book. Santiago’s story
teaches me to face difficulties bravely. When we meet setbacks, we
should not run away. Instead, we should keep fighting. His unyielding
spirit will always encourage me to move forward.
