The Great Gatsby tells the tragic story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made wealthy man who pursues his lost lover Daisy. He holds luxurious parties every night, hoping to win Daisy back, but she is a shallow person who values money and status more than true love. Gatsby believes wealth can realize his dream and rewrite the past. However, his dream is broken. After a car accident, Daisy abandons him, and he dies alone with almost no one attending his funeral. The novel shows the emptiness of the so-called American Dream in the 1920s.
