The Great Gatsby Boo
用户868981
After reading The Great Gatsby, I deeply feel the sadness behind the
American Dream in the 1920s. Gatsby devotes his whole life to pursuing
Daisy, his ideal lover. He earns wealth through illegal ways, builds a
luxurious villa and holds grand parties every weekend, hoping to attract
Daisy’s attention. However, his pure dream finally collapses completely.
Daisy is shallow, selfish and cowardly. She chooses her rich husband Tom
instead of Gatsby, even letting Gatsby take the blame for her mistake.
Gatsby dies lonely, with no one attending his funeral except his old
father and Nick. The novel exposes the emptiness of the Jazz Age. Many
people chase money and fame blindly, ignoring true love and kindness.
Gatsby’s persistent spirit is admirable, but his dream is built on an
illusion. His tragedy tells us that unrealistic dreams cannot last
forever. Material wealth can never fill the emptiness inside people. We
should hold rational goals and value sincere feelings rather than being
trapped by vain desires.
