Book review of the last problem
The last problem is one of Conan Doyle’s The Memoires of Sherlock Holmes, which are a series of detective novels written in a reminiscent tone of Waston. Holmes and Waston ferreted out a great many case, and eventually Holmes met his well-mached opponent—Professor Moriarty, having a razor-sharp intellect, who even made Holmes admired .This story was about a stirring life-and-death contest between Holmes and Moriaty. Holmes had rigorous arrangement and utter evidence, we can say everything is ready. Whereas Moriaty also consolidated step and step. And I wonder who will win?At the ending of the story, it seemed that Holmes along with Moriarty perished together.
The story was set in England in 1891,when England hided conjuncture secretly. Holmes found those cases that haven’t ferret out had a peculiar connection with Profession and his gang, he was determined to send Moriaty to prison. This is a warfare to protect the city.
This story conveys a responsibility of citizen and devotion to country. Just as Holmes himself said,” if I were assured of the former eventually I would, in the interest of public, cheerfully accept the latter.” That’s to say, if he could try Moriaty to bring to justice,he is willing to pay any price. Also, we can see, this concluded some heroism. This is a stunning adventure to find truth.
Otherwise, I read His Last Bow and The Adventure of the Susses Vampire. When you begin to read His Last Bow,you wonder, where is Sherlock Holmes?I can’t find him anywhere. And,finally,he turned up unexpectedly. Homlet is nowhere as we could never exactly know where he was ,simultaneously he was everywhere as he could appear in any moment! You don't know who will he be dressed up as next time! And how about the Susses Vampire? At the first place,I was obsessed with this title,I become a fan of vampire after I saw the Vampire Diary. And I thought, this is a fantastic story.Whereas there is no real vampire in the story. This is about misunderstanding, which be broken by Holmes eventually. These three stories have familiar theme but utterly diverse plot.
Upon Conan Doyle’s masterpiece,I want to drew comparison with Wilkie Collins’s the Moonstone and Edgar Allan Poe’s Tales of Mystery and Imagination. To all appearance,The final problem was created in a reminiscent tone,we heared Waston narrated everything that Holmes experienced.Except that,we can see everyone in the story vividly, also, humour is never lacking.Last but not least, the case is complicated and confusing, but not terrified. All masterpieces of Conan Doyle is worth to read, and we enjoy it.When it comes to detective novel,no novel of Wilkie can overlook or underestimate the moonstone. The Moonstone (1868) by Wilkie Collins is a 19thcentury British epistolary novel, generally considered the first detective novel in the English language. Rachel Verinder, a young English woman, inherits a large Indian diamond on her eighteenth birthday. It is a legacy from her uncle, a corrupt British army officer who served in India. The diamond is of great religious significance as well as being extremely valuable, and three Hindu priests have dedicated their lives to recovering it. The story incorporates elements of the legendary origins of the Hope Diamond (or perhaps the Orloff Diamond). Rachel's eighteenth birthday is celebrated with a large party, whose guests include her cousin Franklin Blake. She wears the Moonstone on her dress that evening for all to see, including some Indian jugglers who have called at the house. Later that night, the diamond is stolen from Rachel's bedroom, and a period of turmoil, unhappiness, misunderstandings and ill-luck ensues. Told by a series of narratives from some of the main characters, the complex plot traces the subsequent efforts to explain the theft, identify the thief, trace the stone and recover it.
To all appearance,Holmes fully deserves a title an honour of excellent detective. And what about others?Other detectives?Well,we see,Holmes, who is a stubborn unsocial man, enjoy bringing case to bright with a way beyond all expectation. Just he said,”I am a good move not static,I extremely hate ordinary life, I pursue the stimulation of my spirit.” And he is skilled in observing, simulating mentality and tracking after step, sometimes there is no lack of humour.Holmes himself call himself a “consulting detective”,that is,when the other private or official detective encounter difficulties often to his cry for help.Inspector Quebracho,a professional detective from the Moonstone by Wilkie Collins,is a witty,courageous,sincere,kind-hearted official detective.he is on the thither side of fifty with snow in his hair, thin slim build witn aduck face and pale yellow face.Compared to Holmes,it seems that he is more a detective than an abjective pastor or a boss of mortuary house.Whereas he show his magic power while finding the moonstone back,he reels silk from cocoons to make a painstaking investigation and eventually captures cunning murderer. The plot just carried the audience away, and inspector Quebracho confirm the truth with his wisdom and courage¬—doesn’t judge of a man by his looks.
As a proverb said,” there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes.”I wonder everybody who read Sherlock Holmes would be attracted by him and admired him. So am I. Well, every readers has his or her Sherlock Holmes in their eyes.In this story, the confrontation between Holmes and Moriarty was my favorite part of the story.Moriarty, the genius and the wonder of thing, who had the staff in his hand.he threatened Holmes to give up his plan and never withstood with him, whereas Holmes had no fears.“Danger is part of my trade.” “if I were assured of the former eventuality I would, in the interests of the public, cheerfully accept the latter.”His strong responsibility to city made me touched a lot.I am long for more other masterpiece of Conan Doyle. The world of detective story hided endless paradise.
In the last of story of story, Waston said as follows as emotion was aroused,” he is the person whom I shall over regard as the best and wisest man whom I have ever know.“That’s I want to say.
