The Terracotta Army, also known as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses,
is a collection of clay sculptures that depict the army of Emperor Qin
Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. It is located in the city of
Xi'an, in the Shaanxi province of China. The army was created to
accompany the emperor in the afterlife, as a form of protection and
assistance. The sculptures were buried with the emperor's tomb and were
discovered in 1974 by local farmers. The Terracotta Army is considered
one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the world and is now a
popular tourist attraction.
