  The life journey of the protagonist Jean Valjean is a profound exploration of human nature. His story, from a common man imprisoned for stealing bread to save his starving family, to a compassionate and selfless mayor, and finally to an old man who sacrifices himself to protect an innocent girl, is a relentless pursuit of justice, kindness, and redemption. Secondly, the depiction of poverty and social injustice in the novel is deeply unsettling. Through the tragic experiences of characters like Cosette and Fantine, Hugo reveals the suffering of the lower classes in society. These vividly portrayed characters and their stories have given me a more profound understanding of the inequities of that era. Thirdly, the character Javert, the policeman, represents the cold face of law and order. His rigid pursuit of justice contrasts sharply with Valjean's compassion, leading me to ponder the relationship between law and morality. Javert's ultimate fate also reflects the author's deep understanding of the complexities of human nature. Moreover, the revolutionary scenes in the novel convey the power of the people. Though that period of history is not distant, it reminds us that progress often comes with sacrifice and struggle. Finally, "Les Misérables" has deeply impressed upon me the power of forgiveness and love. Despite the hardships that fill Jean Valjean's life, his kindness and love eventually transform many, including his enemies. This novel teaches us that even in the darkest of times, love and hope are the forces that drive humanity forward.
