傲慢与偏见
盛娟惠
Pride and Prejudice is not only a love story but also profoundly
reflects the marriage system and class concepts of British society at
that time. In that era, marriage was often seen as a transaction of
economic and social status, with women's choices being greatly
restricted. However, Austen challenges this traditional notion through
the character of Elizabeth, emphasizing the importance of love and
mutual respect in marriage. Elizabeth's eventual union with Darcy is not
due to his wealth and status, but after experiencing various ups and
downs, the two put aside their pride and prejudice, truly recognizing
and appreciating each other's inner selves. This perspective on love
remains profoundly enlightening today, reminding people that when
choosing a partner, one should not be blinded by external factors but
should seek spiritual harmony and emotional connection.
