The personality of Jane
Awareness of liberty and equality
In her view, marriage must be based on equality. She grew up in a specific environment and suffered miserable life. Accordingly, she desired for freedom and equality. Jane expressed bravely her love to Rochester when she discovered she had fallen in love with him. Although their status weren’t staying at the same level, Jane still expressed her feeling as she thought all human beings are equal in spirit. Jane loved Rochester not for wealth, contrarily, due to his strong families of equal social rank and money was all in that time. So a tutor and a nobility, their love didn’t accord with feudal code of ethics about marriage.
