The Great Gatsby
The book I read is The Great Gatsby,which is a novel. It tells us a thought-provoking story.The male protagonist of the story is Gatsby, who was a major officer in his younger ages.At that time, he fell in love with a girl named Daisy, who was also fond of him.Then the World War I broke out and Gatsby was sent to Europe.Therefore,Daisy broke up with him and married a rich man.When Gatsby returned from overseas after the war, he found that Daisy had fallen in love with other man.He was upset and desperate and he made up his mind to become a millionaire.After a few years , Gatsby finally succeeded.He built a mansion across from Daisy's house.Gatsby spent a lot of money and held parties every night, hoping to attract Daisy's attention and redeem his lost love.But Daisy was no longer the innocent girl he knew before. She killed her husband's mistress by a car and blamed Gatsby for the mistress’s death.Eventually, Gatsby was killed.Not only did she not attend Gatsby's funeral, but she also traveled to Europe with her husband.
First of all,I’d like to talk about the male and female protagonist of the story.Daisy is a woman of selfishness and ruthlessness,who is in favor of the wealth very much. In order to gain more wealth, she can sacrifice her love and broke the bottom line of morality.Gatsby is a lamentable person.He can spare all his efforts to pursue love,but he doesn't have a clear mind about what kind of love is of well worth.In the end, I think the purpose of this article is to let us know that money is not the most important thing in the world.We earn money is attempt to achieve our own values and let ourselves live in a more happy life.But in the pursuit of wealth, do not go beyond the bottom line of morality,always be a moral and thoughtful person.
