Dreamlike disillusionment

At first, I am in touch with the great Gatsby by the movie attracted by a great deal of story, I decide to read the book. This book is chockablock with stuff: attractive people, eye-catching plot, tragic ending. Why Gatsby is great? He fell in love with a woman who should not love, and ruined her life. He pursues material success, he is eager to be respected by the upper class, and more eager to get the love of Daisy. In my opinion, only such superficial success is not great in the meaning and value of life. They represent the awakening of the people's self-awareness, which means that anyone who works hard, no matter where you come from, no matter where you are born, as long as you have the courage and willingness to fight, you can realize the ideology of your dreams. That is American dream that Gatsby used to do.
