Introduction
冰莱
Chinglish is a systematic study of this very common phenomenon in
Chinglish. Joan Pinkham is an American who has spent her life as a
translator. She has worked in foreign languages Publishing house and
central Compilation for eight years, editing and polishing English
translations for Chinese translators. In the past eight years, she has
accumulated a large number of typical Chinglish examples, according to
which she scientifically classifies the specific manifestations of
Chinglish. The book can be used for classroom teaching as well as
self-study. Its main target audience is Chinese translators and senior
English students doing translation exercises. When readers flip through
this book, they reach different levels of skill in their second
language. However, except for those who are very accomplished, the
average person's translation will contain chinglish elements to some
extent. Chinglish, of course, is a kind of deformed, mixed language that
is neither English nor Chinese, or "English with Chinese
characteristics". The purpose of this book is to help translators
and others who write directly in English understand how to find elements
of Chinglish in the first draft and correct them. In other words, the
book is intended to help them modify their writing into authentic
English, just as an educated native speaker would write it.
